How to Own Your Professional Learning - Tech Goodle

When we think of professional development we often think of formal training such as conferences or workshops. Maybe you take a course and end up with a certificate of knowledge you have obtained. But what if we had a great explanation for professional development?

Developing skills is more than just skills. It includes our values, our thoughts, our beliefs, and our actions. It happens every time you study and grow professionally. There are many different ways to manage your technology. You can get involved in book studies or book clubs and fight for ideas in-depth through discussions.

These books do not need to be linked to your work. Some of the new features occur when you borrow ideas from other domains. You can also engage in professional learning on the go by listening to podcasts or audiobooks. This allows you to think critically and hear new ideas while in your car or on the go with pajama PD, where you study online courses or home webinars.

This may be synchronized with scheduled or asynchronous video chats with private assignments. You can also choose to participate in a content selection process where you explore different topics, ideas, or strategies. Curation includes that transition between criticism
eye while and celebrating what you love. Keepers know how to evaluate good resources, organize their ideas, and ultimately share those strategies with others.

At the social level, you can join a practice community where you share resources and ideas and talk about your experiences. This could be a private online group with visible meetups but it could also be in person at a social event or just a group of colleagues over coffee.

You can attend conferences where they have no keywords and no speeches. Instead, members participate in open group discussions. You can also set your goals and monitor your progress in response. You can create a smart team. A mastermind group is a closed group of four to six people where each person has an equal status.

Members have an equal time to share their goals, progress, challenges and ideas. Some of the best technological advances are possible in your building. What happens when we look at each other at work and apply the same techniques we see compared to others.

In some cases, we may be involved in teaching that can help direct thinking, lead to paradigm shifts, and allow for the exchange of ideas. Another option is to research the action where you put the question, test the research, experiment with a new strategy, analyze the results, and finally share it with others. You can also participate in the representation.

Here you can join a technology organization and help change the systems or policies around you. Or you can create a blog, podcast, or video series of other people in the field. By sharing your expertise you become more visible in your art and improve it for the better.

Sometimes professional advancement is simply a matter of self-care. When you go for a walk or yoga your mind makes connections between seemingly incompatible ideas. When you have creative efforts outside of your work you end up building new skills that you can use in your work.

Ultimately, professional development is personal and deeply stupid. There is no one way to do it. You can own this process by deliberately and self-directed.
